REMINDER: Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation Symposium This Week - MesotheliomaHelp.net (blog)

The Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation's tenth annual Symposium is scheduled for March 7-8, in Las Vegas.  The two-day conference is an opportunity for the entire mesothelioma community, including patients, their families, caregivers and advocates, to come together to network and to learn the latest mesothelioma news. The primary theme for the Symposium this year is "'All in' for a cure."

Mesothelioma is an aggressive form of cancer primarily caused by exposure to airborne asbestos fibers that is diagnosed in close to 3,000 Americans each year.  Although mesothelioma can be treated with varying degrees of success with surgery, chemotherapy and radiation, there is still no known cure for the disease. The Meso Foundation is the only national, non-profit organization dedicated to finding a cure for the deadly disease. The annual Symposium is extremely important for bringing the mesothelioma community together in one place each year.

Mesothelioma experts from across the country, including Harvey Pass, MD of the NYU Langone Medical Center and Michele Carbone, MD, PhD of the University of Hawaii Cancer Center, will be presenting information on topics including how genes play a role in mesothelioma and novel mesothelioma treatment findings.

An educational grant provided by Belluck & Fox, LLP, helps support the conference.

"Mesothelioma is a tragic disease that needs constant attention from researchers and doctors to find new effective treatments," said Joseph Belluck, a nationally recognized New York mesothelioma lawyer and partner at Belluck & Fox, LLP.

"By supporting the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation's Symposium, we help ensure that the researchers and mesothelioma patients and their families have an opportunity to educate each other, as well as helping to raise awareness of the needs of the community."

See the Meso Foundation's website for more information and to register for the conference.
